May the 4th - 7 LEIA DIP (7 Layer Dip)
LUKE! Use the forks!
Any fun get-together is made better with a delicious 7 layer dip. It's easy to make too!
Ingredients:
1 ½ lbs Ground Beef (or meat substitute)
2-3 Tbsp Axe to Grind Taco Seasoning
1 398ml /14oz can of Refried Beans
4 cups shredded Nacho Cheese or Cheddar/Monterey Jack Cheese blend
1 cup Sour Cream (light or regular)
1 cup Guacamole
1 cup Salsa
(optional) 1 cup canned Black Olives or Black Beans
½ cup Chopped Tomatoes
½ cup Chopped Green Onions
Directions:
Over med-high heat, cook beef until browned, add ¼ cup water and Axe To Grind Foods Taco Seasoning and stir until seasoning and water have cooked down and the flavour has permeated the meat. Set aside. Warm up the refried beans.
Layer-it-Up! On the bottom of a 9x13 glass baking dish or large serving platter, spread the refried beans. Sprinkle ½ of the cheese over the beans. Add the beef layer over the cheese, carefully spread the sour cream onto the beef, then add the guacamole layer. Next add the salsa evenly over the guacamole and sprinkle remaining cheese over the salsa. Mix the olives, tomatoes and green onions together and sprinkle evenly over the top.
You can serve immediately.
You can stop layering after the last layer of cheese, place the the dish in a 350F oven for 15 minutes to warm it up and melt cheese before removing from oven and adding the olives/tomatoes/green onions layer.
Or refrigerate overnight and serve cold. Enjoy with tortilla chips, crackers, or add to a bowl of shredded lettuce for a 7 layer salad bowl. Always a favourite!
