The name of this product is a "tip of the hat" to "Timber Lounge Halifaxe" (now located in Dartmouth) who provides sponsorship to Canada's National Axe Throwing Team. (yes, we have a National Axe Throwing Team). Many of the team members train at Timber Lounge locations. Timber Lounge technically put the AXE in Halifaxe!
Our Halifaxe Donair Spice is now gluten free. It will still give you enough seasoning for 6-8 lbs of meat. Our blend is low sodium, KETO friendly, sugar-free. The flavour and texture are true to the traditional flavour. In removing the wheat flour from this recipe, you are getting a more concentrated spice mixture. We do not use bulking agents, additives, MSG or any of the "bad stuff". Our clean ingredients give you more aromatics, better flavours, longer shelf life and versitility of use. Plus it means that now all of our blends are gluten-free. Flour is not necessary to get the loaf to bind together for slicing... it is the "kneading and throwing" or "mixing the spice and meat into a coarse paste" that allows the emulsification of fat and protein that will hold it together as a loaf, meatballs, or a burger.
Off Label Uses:
This blend can easily pivot into a Greek vibe with the addition of lemon juice, lemon zest, and for a souvlaki marinade, the addition of red wine vinegar and olive oil. Greek salad dressing or marinade!
Use to season an omelette with a sharp cheese.
Toss with oil and chicken wings for a quick Airfryer meal or snack.
Sprinkle onto 2 ingredient flat bread dough after brushing on some olive oil and add optional cheese to make donair (garlic) cheese bread.
