There are essentially 4 types of Paprika: Hungarian (typically hot), Smoked Paprika (smokey sweet), Standard Paprika (slightly bitter but somewhat sweet too), and Sweet Paprika which has a very strong red pepper flavour with its sweetness. Typically, sweet paprika is used in spicy dishes to add sweetness and red pepper notes to bring the dish into a flavourful balance. It has a much more deep red colour than the other versions and is most definitely sweeter from start to finish.
